Gateway Gets a Pulse on the Healthcare Market With Poudre Valley Health System Contract
Gateway, Inc., the nation’s third-largest PC company, today announced that it has signed a multi-year contract with Poudre Valley Health System to serve as the sole PC hardware supplier for its healthcare facilities, including its new hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies. The initial $3 million technology agreement includes Gateway servers, notebook PCs, all-in-one computers and desktop PCs that will power Medical Center of the Rockies’ key business applications. Gateway is also furnishing the new hospital with flat-screen displays for use in patient rooms, conference rooms and public facilities. Applying technology to improve patient care and solve challenges is not new at Poudre Valley Health System. For three years running, Poudre Valley Health System has been named one of the nation’s 100 “most wired” healthcare providers by Hospitals and Health Networks. It has also been recognized as one of the nation’s 500 most innovative users of information technology by Information Week.
“Our new center will establish a new standard for technologic innovation, patient services, physician and staff productivity. The goal is to offer unparalleled application and deployment of IT tools to address diverse patient care and specialized needs,” said Russ Branzell, Poudre Valley Health System chief information officer. “As one of the nation’s most innovative health care providers, we wanted a single hardware vendor with state-of-the-art solutions for installing and maintaining the technology infrastructure for our health system’s organizational success. From our admissions office to our patient records department, we’re confident that Gateway will give us an edge in patient service through the hardware design and stability, system availability and expert support required to boost our efficiency.”
“Gateway’s goal is to support Poudre Valley Health System with a level of product quality and service that exceeds their expectations,” said John Costello, Gateway vice president of segment marketing. “We pride ourselves on being a business partner who helps our customers achieve their goals by listening to their needs and matching the right solutions to suit those requirements. By providing North American-based technical support, innovative technology and a truly caring attitude, Gateway is outfitting Poudre Valley Health System with the tools to streamline processes while staying on budget.”
Gateway’s relationship with Poudre Valley Health System spans four years. Using Gateway systems as the technology backbone, Poudre Valley Health System has been able to streamline business processes, resulting in a dramatic reduction in the medical record transcription rate from 24 days to just one.
