Vertex Now The Second Largest Business Process Outsourcer In The UK

VERTEX, the business outsourcing arm of United Utilities PLC has moved up to second position of the UK Business Process Outsourcer (BPO) player rankings according to Ovum, a leading provider of research, advisory and consulting services in the global Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) sector.

With a turnover of £405 million 2005/2006[1], Vertex has rapidly climbed the league table from third largest UK BPO to reach an impressive second position in the space of a year after acquiring financial services company Marlborough Stirling in 2005.

In the 10 years since Vertex was established, it has grown from an in-house provider of customer services for United Utilities to become the UK’s second largest business process outsourcer. The company has an impressive range of blue-chip clients as well as some of the UK’s largest local authority and central government clients. Recently, Vertex has secured several contracts including an agreement with the CSA, and a five-year deal with DB Mortgages.

Over the past year, Vertex has developed and strengthened its market offering by acquiring and developing a financial services division, Vertex Financial Services- a business which is now a leading provider of outsourced services and technology solutions to the life & pensions, mortgages and investment industries. Furthermore Vertex has recently set up a new debt collection and consultancy business- FRA UK, where the company can offer a new approach to organisations seeking to transform their debt recovery performance.

As one of the UK’s major customer management service suppliers, Vertex has formed a partnership with the acclaimed Henley Management College who are carrying out significant research in order for the business to further improve its expertise and heightened understanding of customer experience and customer management.

Commenting on the company’s leading position in the UK BPO and also on further developing its customer management expertise, Vertex Managing Director Tom Drury said:

“I am delighted that Vertex has been recognised as one of the UK’s top BPO providers and risen to a prominent 2nd position in Ovum’s league table. Vertex works on behalf of a range of clients to help them transform the way they do business. As experts in customer management, the knowledge that Vertex will gain from leading edge research undertaken by Henley Management College will enable us to be recognised as thought-leaders in our industry.”

Vertex has also been ranked 22nd by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) and now forms part of the ‘leaders category’ in the first ever ranking of the world’s top outsourcing providers- The Global Outsourcing 100.
