Logicalis UK Acquires £40 Million Systems Integrator CSF Solutions Ltd & Tier 3 Datacentre

Fifth European deal in 24 months boosts managed services capabilities, IBM and HP relationships

Logicalis UK has acquired CSF Solutions Ltd, (CSF) a £40 million revenue UK-based enterprise IT solutions provider. CSF has built a strong reputation in enterprise computing, specifically the IBM mainframe market and business critical servers from HP, and maintained a long-standing customer base with a significant number of impressive blue chip enterprises.

As part of the agreement, Logicalis has also agreed terms to acquire CSF Managed Services Plc’ Tier 3 data centre located in Bracknell, Berkshire. CSF will be integrated into Logicalis UK’s operations. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The acquisition of CSF further strengthens Logicalis’ UK operations,” says Logicalis CEO, European Operations, Ian Cook. “It enables us to take another step forward in building a business that offers enhanced enterprise computing as well as integrated networking, storage and communications solutions.”

Data centre provides key focus for growth
“In particular, gaining a 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art tier 3 data centre will mean that we will have one of the highest quality, robust and secure facilities in the UK. This will significantly enhance Logicalis UK’s flexible managed service capabilities, a key focus for our growth,” emphasises Cook.

“We intend to use the data centre to fulfil the pent up demand from our customers for comprehensive, resilient Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services that will support their businesses. In particular, we will provide on-demand infrastructure and resources such as hosted applications to capitalise on the opportunities created by the growth of e-commerce,” he adds.

“It also enables us to meet the increased urgency in the marketplace for data centre migration, hosting and disaster recovery services as well as applications performance and full Information Lifecycle management.”

Strategic IBM and HP relationships
“The acquisition significantly strengthens our role as a strategic partner for IBM and HP, particularly the IBM System z mainframe and HP – Alpha and Integrity server and storage solutions,” adds Tom Kelly, Logicalis’ UK managing director. “We are now not only the UK’s largest Systems z partner but one of the very few IBM channel partners that can support the entire IBM Systems z-, i-, p5- and x- server solutions range on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Latest in series of deals
The transaction – which will see Logicalis’ UK turnover grow to over $300 million – is the latest of a series of deals concluded as Logicalis continues its strategy of both organic growth and acquisition to augment its offering and add to the skills of its business across Europe and North and South America.

It is the fifth European acquisition announced by Logicalis in the last 24 months and is another step toward establishing Logicalis as one of the UK’s truly leading ICT solutions providers.
