TCS, Delhi Golf Club & National Network For India
New Delhi- July 5, 2005 A computer based unique Electronic eLiteracy programme for adults was launched here today at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC) for the benefit of their regular and temporary staff including caddies and their families. The eliteracy programme has been started jointly by National Network for India (NNFI), a non government organization with software support from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), DGC and DNVSS ( a Virmani Trust) .
According to Mr Parmod Chawla, Trustee, NNFI , the elearning programme is unique in the sense that with the help of TCS software illiterate people in group of 10-15 can learn to read and write within 48 hours of learning as the TCS software uses the juxtaposition of text, sound and picture on a computer monitor. NNFI plans to take this programme to other golf clubs in the country. There are more than 180 golf clubs in the country.
