Dell Technology Helps Errand Solutions Live Up to Its Name
Errand Solutions, a unique provider of concierge services as an employee benefit, was experiencing rapid growth and needed an upgraded IT operation to keep up with customer demand. A Dell customer since its inception, Chicago-based Errand Solutions began in 2000 with two employees and a mission to “run any errand.” Today, Errand Solutions helps companies entice and retain employees and reduce stress by providing specialty concierge and delivery services, saving employees an average of 16 hours per month. The company has now grown to more than 100 employees in 15 states and serves more than 1.5 million busy American workers.
To keep remote employees online and in touch with headquarters and each other around the clock, Errand Solutions turned to Dell to implement a virtual private network (VPN) built on Dell servers and storage. With the VPN, Errand can meet the needs of customers in diverse industries because its employees can store and retrieve in-depth customer information quickly, easily and inexpensively.
For example, because the VPN identifies, registers and classifies every end-user by name, employee ID, title, department, address, credit card information, preferences, utilization and other personal information, the system can proactively prompt the concierge to remind users when it is time to buy an anniversary or birthday gift for a relative or time to get the oil changed on their car. “Dell servers, storage, desktops and notebooks have enabled my employees to provide a superior and personalized service that differentiates us from our competitors,” said Marsha McVicker, president and founder of Errand Solutions. “Without immediate and remote access to our extensive customer records, we would not have developed the reputation of providing best-in-class concierge and delivery services to our customers.”
