SAMSUNG Electronics and T-Systems Demonstrate FIRST Live T-DMB/L-Band GSM Mobile Phone at Medienforum NRW
Samsung Electronics and Germany’s T-Systems, a division of Deutsche Telekom, demonstrate Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB) service on the first T-DMB/L-Band GSM phone during the media convention medienforum NRW in Germany.
medienforum.nrw is one of the most influential conventions in Europe , organized by state government of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM).
The two companies have been collaborating together to develop and commercialize the technology since they built their partnership at CeBIT 2005 in Hanover , Germany (March 10-16). During CeBIT, Samsung and T-Systems conducted high profile demonstrations featuring Samsung Electronics’ terrestrial prototype terminals and they now unveil the world’s first and only T-DMB/L-Band GSM mobile phone.
Samsung Electronics and T-Systems have been working together to technically ensure mobile TV services during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The final decision will depend on the license allocation but the well proved DAB/DMB technology which is a public standard of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is more and more taken into consideration. DMB-services can coexist within one DAB-multiplex with “traditionally” encoded DAB audio services and L-Band-frequencies are available to start a nationwide service in 2006.
