AboveNet Expands Core Network with Juniper Networks T-series Routers
Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that AboveNet, Inc, a provider of fiber based connectivity solutions for businesses and carriers, has begun upgrading the capacity of its nationwide Tier 1 IP network backbone with Juniper Networks T-series core routers. AboveNet’s private optical network delivers key network and IP services in and between 14 top U.S. metro markets and London. The Juniper Networks T-series will both enhance the capacity of AboveNet’s network and its existing Layer 2 eWAN service, and enable it to introduce new services such as Layer 3 MPLS-based VPN Services.
“We have begun upgrading our core network with state-of-the-art technology to ensure we can continue to scale to meet our customers’ growing traffic demands and introduce new services, while maintaining our industry-leading reliability and performance,” said Rajiv Datta, AboveNet’s Chief Technology Officer. “We are expanding with Juniper’s flagship T-series to enable us to make this transition and to deliver innovative services to our customers with the reliability they expect from AboveNet.”
The Juniper Networks T-series is the industry’s most proven core routing platform, with over 2000 units deployed in customer networks worldwide. The T-series leverages Juniper Networks’ unique multi-chassis TX Matrix technology, allowing service providers to scale to multi-terabit rates non-disruptively and without the risks associated with introducing new equipment or operating systems. The combination of unmatched system scale, reliability and performance makes the T-series the ideal core platform for large scale deployments in the world’s most demanding networks.
