Clarks opts for next generation BT Store solution
Clarks International, one of the UK’s leading footwear retailers, has announced that it is upgrading its existing BT Expedite store infrastructure to the latest .NET Store solution. Clarks has been evolving its store systems with BT for several years, and this latest migration is a further step in the ongoing alliance between the two organisations. The new programme will simplify management of the Clarks in-store systems while ensuring a greater focus on customer service by store staff.
The main driver for this upgrade programme was the need for a more reliable and flexible strategic technology platform across all 670 Clarks stores. This will enable the IT team to deliver new business and customer service initiatives quickly, and to ensure responsiveness to requests from different departments across the organisation.
The Connected Retailer Store solution from BT Expedite is one of the leading solutions in the industry. Built on the Microsoft .NET architecture it is flexible, scaleable and able to support a wide variety of configuration and deployment options. It will provide Clarks with a future-proof platform that can support multi-channel implementations, including handheld terminals, and can be configured to suit any business process. It will give Clarks more ownership and greater control of their systems. As the system can be easily configured and tailored to suit Clarks’ unique business processes, the retailer will be able to create different flavours of the point-of-sale platform easily to suit the size and complexity of its diverse stores. This will include simplified transaction flows in order to speed up transaction times.
The Clarks team is also adopting a simplified approach to managing the store estate, and with the new BT solution will be able to remotely install, manage and maintain in-store IT without on-site visits. The new, robust platform will ensure that store staff will have more time to spend focusing on customers and their needs.
