Kensaku Konishi takes over as President and CEO of Canon India

New Delhi, January 5, 2007: Canon India Pvt. Limited, India’s No 1. Complete Digital Imaging Company today announced that Mr. Kensaku Konishi will be the new President and Chief Executive Officer at Canon India. Mr. Kensaku Konishiwill oversee the company’s management and business operations for India.

Mr. Konishi is a Canon veteran. After his graduation from Waseda University, he joined Canon in 1978 as part of a management team for production control and budget, for copiers. Following several senior management positions in Japan, Australia and 7 years in United States, he was appointed the Managing Director of Canon Marketing (Singapore) in 2001, where he was responsible for the overall management of domestic sales and marketing operations. He is familiar with Canon operations in South and South East Asia.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Konishi was President and Chief Executive Officer of Canon Hong Kong Company Ltd., responsible for the strategic management and direction of Canon’s operations in Hong Kong. With his devotion to improve the operation level of the company, Canon Hong Kong achieved the international award for quality, environmental awareness, health, safety management system and customer service. During Mr. Konishi’s tenure, he led Canon Hong Kong through years of growth, including a successful 2006 whereby the company registered an impressive HK $2 billion sales, a 72% increase as compared with 2003.

“Canon has been enjoying steady growth in India over the past few years. Last year, Canon achieved over 30% growth in India and our market shares improved in almost all the relevant business segments. I am eager to build on this momentum of success,” commented Mr. Konishi.

In this new appointment, Mr. Konishi will succeed Mr. Alan Grant who has managed Canon’s business in India for last the 7 years, and is moving to the United Kingdom post his retirement.
