Weston all set to recapture Indian consumer electronics market. Exports three lakh colour televisions
New Delhi – July 20, 2005 Renowned Consumer electronics company Weston after lying low in the domestic market for last few years has drawn a long term plan to recapture the domestic Consumer electronic market with launch of new products and new marketing strategy.
The company, which was busy in exports for last couple of years, exported more than three lakh colour televisions to various European and gulf countries including Germany, France, U.K. and Middle East. Weston is the second largest consumer electronics products exporter from the country.
According to Mr Sunil Vachani, Managing Director, Weston Electronics, The company to increase its share in the domestic and global market has set up two new state of the art manufacturing units at Dehra Dun in Uttaranchal. Presently the company has seven manufacturing units in India including two in Mohali, Punjab, two in Noida and one in Jammu.
The company has drawn a Chinese model of marketing by mass producing low priced quality products. The total production capacity of Weston in these seven units is 1.7 lakh products per month.
The company through its in-house R&D efforts has recently launched low cost pure flat range of Colour televisions in various sizes with the price range varying from Rs 3990 for 14 inch CTV to 12790 for 29 inch CTV. Company plans to increase its domestic sales by 35 per cent in the current financial year. The company has incorporated Toshiba’s one chip solution technology for providing quality picture in CTV’s. All TV’s carry two year full warranty.
According to Mr Sunil Sethi, Vice President, Weston Electronics apart from colour televisions, company has recently launched new range of Digital Video Disc (DVD) players and plans to launch Air conditioners, Microwave ovens, washing machines in the domestic market.
For the global market the company has set a target of 12 per cent increase in the current financial year. The total turn over of the company during the previous year 2004-05 was more than Rs 450 crore.
