Motorola Good Technology Group and NewsGator Bring Behind-the-Firewall RSS Content to Mobile Professionals

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced today that it has signed an agreement with NewsGator Technologies, Inc., the leading RSS platform company, to mobilize RSS content for enterprises. Under the terms of the agreement, Motorola will extend NewsGator-aggregated RSS content from behind the firewall to mobile users on a broad range of devices, including the Motorola Q, Samsung BlackJack™, the Palm® Treo™ family and many other standards-based smartphones.

This announcement follows Motorola’s recently completed acquisition of Good Technologies. Motorola’s Good Technology Group, which was formed upon the closing of the transaction, will work closely with NewsGator to implement the agreement and make NewsGator’s technology available through its secure, managed service.

According to the Pew Internet Foundation, one in three individuals consumes RSS feeds, and 63 percent of these RSS users subscribe to work-related feeds[1]. NewsGator Enterprise Server aggregates and automatically delivers behind the firewall and public RSS feeds to enterprise users and groups, enabling companies to improve the way they communicate and collaborate.

But workers who regularly access blogs, wikis, enterprise applications and other systems that publish RSS are most often not at their desks, and need real-time access to this information to take care of business wherever they are. Using Motorola’s managed service, enterprises will now be able to extend NewsGator aggregated RSS content securely and reliably to mobile users on a variety of standards-based smartphones.
