AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) and the New England Sports Network (NESN) today announced a distribution agreement to deliver NESN’s sports programming as part of the AT&T U-verseSM TV channel lineup. Under the agreement, AT&T U-verse TV customers in New Haven and Hartford, Conn., market areas have access to NESN’s sports programming, including all Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins game telecasts; extensive, award-winning pre- and post-game coverage; “NESN SportsDesk”; Quinnipiac University basketball and hockey; Hartford University women’s basketball coach’s show; Hockey East; other regional collegiate sporting events and programs; “Charlie Moore Outdoors”; and “SportsPlus,” with The Boston Globe’s award-winning columnists and writers.
“We are proud to offer NESN’s compelling sports programming to U-verse TV subscribers in New Haven and Hartford. Red Sox and Bruins fans can have ultimate access to their favorite teams with AT&T U-verse TV,” said Dan York, head of programming, AT&T Operations, Inc. “NESN is an excellent addition to our expansive sports channel lineup.” “We are very pleased that New England’s most watched sports network will be available to AT&T U-verse customers in New Haven and Hartford, and we look forward to bringing them the best coverage in regional sports,” said Sean McGrail, president, NESN.
AT&T U-verse TV is delivered by Project Lightspeed, the company’s initiative to expand the fiber-optics network deeper into neighborhoods to deliver U-verse TV, AT&T Yahoo!® High Speed Internet U-verse Enabled and, in the future, Voice over IP services. Through its subsidiaries, AT&T expects to reach nearly 19 million households by the end of 2008 as part of its initial deployment, using fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technologies.
