AT&T’s YELLOWPAGES.COM Launches Latest Options in Wireless Local Search

YELLOWPAGES.COM (www.yellowpages.com), a subsidiary of AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T), announced today that local search has become easier for wireless customers of the new AT&T. Through YELLOWPAGES.COM local search enhancements, AT&T wireless customers can now conduct simple, streamlined lookups through a revamped single search box on MEdia™ Net and experience an improved user interface optimized for mobile search.

Through enhancements to MEdia Net, a single search box now differentiates popular searches for local information from general Internet searches. For example, a user who types “pizza” into the search box with a geographic area, determined by the user’s default ZIP code or a ZIP code he or she enters, would receive listings provided by YELLOWPAGES.COM for local pizza places as opposed to a broad listing of everything related to pizza that would likely result from a traditional search engine service.

The wireless local search functionality is another example of promised converged product offerings being made available by AT&T Inc. following its acquisition of BellSouth Corp. on Dec. 29, 2006. “As more and more Americans turn to their wireless devices for information on local businesses, YELLOWPAGES.COM is giving our users and AT&T wireless subscribers the important information they need when locating an area merchant or service,” said Charles Stubbs, president and CEO of YELLOWPAGES.COM, AT&T. “Our wireless customers now can use their handsets to shop locally and get a comprehensive collection of local listings from a trusted source.”

“The new functionality is another example of cross-platform convergence and integration made possible by AT&T,” said Jim Ryan, vice president of mobile data services, AT&T. “The YELLOWPAGES.COM brand resonates with consumers as a way to find local business information based on their particular interests and needs. AT&T customers now have access to more localized information when searching the Internet on their mobile phones,” Ryan said. In the “WHAT’S HOT” section on MEdia Net, which gives subscribers quick access to seasonal content of interest, consumers will now have shortcut access to relevant business listings — provided by YELLOWPAGES.COM — such as links to recommended places to shop for Dad as Father’s Day approaches.
