Integra Telecom Switches to IBM Software for Real-Time Service Management and Reduced Costs

IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that Integra Telecom, a Portland, Ore. integrated communications carrier of voice and data services, has selected IBM as its strategic service management software vendor. Integra Telecom will replace its existing HP OpenView technology with IBM Tivoli’s Netcool software to increase network availability and performance, improve the quality of service and increase the speed of time to market of new services — all while keeping costs down.

Integra Telecom needed a centralized system to manage and integrate their networks with recently acquired Electric Lightwave, a recognized carrier service brand. Electric Lightwave was utilizing Tivoli Netcool. Integra Telecom is currently in the process of migrating from HP OpenView to IBM Netcool, as well as deploying the Netcool/OMNIbus and Netcool Precision for IP Networks products. Integra Telecom expects this process to be completed by April 2007.

“We decided to replace our HP software and migrate to IBM software because of the increased functionality and innovation IBM provides at a lower cost,” said Julie Rouzee, CTO of Integra Telecom. “The IBM Tivoli Netcool solution offers a unified platform that enables us to ensure efficient use of our network resources and improve the quality of customer service by being more responsive to business challenges, while reducing costs at the same time.”
