Reliance and Air Deccan set to change Air Travel

With this unique facility, passengers can book Air Deccan tickets, pay for the ticket, reschedule as well as cancel the ticket from any Reliance WebWorld and get immediate refund anywhere across the country using Real broadband facilities, ably assisted by web guides.

Announcing the tie-up Capt. Gopinath, Managing Director, Air Deccan said, “Two key elements for the success of a product are the affordability and accessibility. We have already priced our airfares affordably and now our drive is to ensure that our tickets are easily accessible. The reach of the Reliance WebWorld network will enable us to achieve this. Our endeavor has been to ‘simplifly’ and ‘demystify’ air travel which includes every element of flying from the cost of tickets to booking and eventually the experience of flying. Opening up this unique distribution channel will make purchasing of Air Deccan tickets more accessible”.

Currently, Air Deccan tickets can be purchased through the internet, the 24/7 call centre, travel agents or airport ticketing counters. Now customers can walk across to any neighbouring Reliance WebWorld to book Air Deccan tickets.

More importantly is the flexibility that it will offer customers to cancel or reschedule their journey contrary to the earlier conventional procedure where the passenger could collect refund for cancelled tickets only from the original point of sale. The new arrangement will now allow customers to cancel bookings and collect refund at any WebWorld store across the country, irrespective of which WebWorld store they would have purchased the ticket from.

“This is a first ever and major e-ticketing initiative of its kind in the country leveraging the retail presence and broadband capabilities of Reliance WebWorlds. This would mean faster service & more convenience to Air Deccan passengers without the need to access the Internet, travel agents or the airport.” said Sarup Chowdhary, CEO, Reliance WebWorld.

Air Deccan operates from 37 destinations, out of which 30 destinations will be served by Reliance WebWorlds starting August 2, 2005. Subsequently it will cover 104 cities in a phased manner over the next 30 days.

“Reliance WebWorld and Air Deccan aim to gain synergies in attracting customers and providing unparalleled value. Reliance would do so by strengthening its technology service offerings at the Web Worlds, while Air Deccan would gain access to the large retail footprint through Reliance WebWorld,” added Mr. Chowdhary.
