Newseum Unveils New Web Site
The Newseum today officially unveiled a redesigned Web site in advance of the fall 2007 opening of the new museum of news in Washington, D.C. Newseum.org () will introduce audiences to the new museum while continuing to offer favorite features from the original award-winning site.
Throughout the year, the site will offer regular updates and video feeds of the Newseum construction process. Visitors can watch the installation of major artifacts or read about the latest milestones on the road toward completion.
The site will also feature details about upcoming museum events, programs and educational opportunities open to the public prior to and after the opening of the new Newseum.”This new and improved Web site is designed to help people understand our new Newseum better,” said Charles L. Overby, CEO of the Newseum.
About the NewseumThe Newseum — a 250,000-square-foot museum of news — will offer visitors an experience that blends five centuries of news history with up-to-the-second technology and hands-on exhibits. The Newseum will feature 14 major galleries, 15 theaters, two state-of-the-art broadcast studios and more than a dozen additional exhibits and displays. It will provide a unique environment that takes museum-goers behind the scenes to experience how and why news is made.
The Newseum will be located at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Sixth Street, N.W., Washington, on America’s Main Street between the White House and the U.S. Capitol and adjacent to the Smithsonian museums on the National Mall.The Newseum’s mission is to provide a forum where the media and the public can gain a better understanding of each other.
