Huawei Selects CounterPath Softphone to Enrich the IMS Service Features

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, and CounterPath Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: CTPS), a leading provider of VoIP (Voice over IP) and Video over IP SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) softphones, today announced that the companies have entered a partnership to provide enriched services for global telecom network operators based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).

A pioneer in global IMS applications, Huawei offers standards-based IMS solution, enabling operators to reap real benefits from Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC). CounterPath’s eyeBeam™ 1.5 softphone, which provides VoIP, Video over IP, IM (Instant Messaging) and Presence functionalities, supports recognized SIP standards and is fully interoperable with Huawei’s IMS platform. With the successful integration of CounterPath’s eyeBeam™ softphone, Huawei’s IMS solution is enhanced to provide end-to-end Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) services, including VoIP, Multi-media Conference, IP Centrex and IM (Instant Messaging). Huawei is establishing an IMS industry chain through partnerships with leading vendors in such areas as service software, access platforms and end-user handsets, with the intention of building an open, collaborative and innovative IMS eco-system.
