Ferrari 1000 and 5000 notebooks win Japan Good Design Awards

Acer’s newest Formula One racing-inspired notebooks, Ferrari 1000 and Ferrari 5000 series, are winners of the 2006/7 Good Design Award accredited by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization. The Good Design Award is among the world’s most famous historical design awards, and since 1957, has served to identify excellent design products that promote the quality of life via the power of design.

The list of meticulous criteria judged by the Good Design Award jury includes whether the product is aesthetically superior, designed with safety in mind, shows a high level of solving the problems facing the user, presents new modes of behavior or manners, makes skillful use of new technology and materials, and puts the principles of ecology design into practice.

Celebrating the victorious partnership of Acer and Ferrari, the Ferrari 5000 and 1000 notebook series communicate a unique, state-of-the-art design treatment and racecar design elements, with emphasis on high speed and performance. The light weight and highly resilient carbon-fiber casing conceals AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology and the latest in multimedia technology: high definition audio and video experience.

One-click Acer Video Conference enhances notebook VoIP capability by integrating real-time video and voice over the Internet to create a highly mobile and flexible working environment. Acer Orbicam™ camera — a 1.3-megapixel web camera mounted at the top of the LCD panel with 225-degree ergonomic rotation along with Acer PrimaLite technology and VisageOn — permits high quality visual capture on both sides of the screen without turning the notebook. Moreover, the handy Acer Bluetooth® VoIP phone allows communication – handheld or hand-free. Echo cancellation and noise suppression technology ensure crystal-clear sound, while Acer Voice Connection Manager instantly switches audio from notebook to VoIP phone.
