Tickets on Sale February 1 for Blockbuster Exhibition ‘Modernism: Designing a New World 1914-1939′ at Corcoran Gallery of Art

Tickets go on sale Thursday, Feb. 1 for this spring’s ground-breaking exhibition, “Modernism: Designing a New World 1914-1939,” on view at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. from March 17 through July 29, 2007.

“Modernism” is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition on the subject ever staged in the United States, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art will be the only American venue. Presenting nearly 400 objects and 50 film clips, the exhibition explores the foundation and meaning of Modernism, and it contains some of the most seminal works of modern art, graphic and product design, and architecture produced in the first half of the 20th century.

Beginning Feb. 1, tickets will be available online at http://www.corcoran.org or through Ticketmaster at (866) 448-7849. Cost is $14 adults, $12 senior/military and $10 students. Corcoran members and children under six years old are free. “Modernism” hours of admission are as follows: Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Tuesday. As part of its partnership with the Corcoran, Amtrak is offering a 10% discount off lowest available fares to Washington, D.C. between March 14 and August 1, 2007. Travelers can make reservations by calling Amtrak at (800) 872-7245 or contacting a local travel agent and referencing Convention Fares Code X75L-969. This code cannot be used for Internet reservations and is not valid on Auto Train. The special fare is valid on Metroliner and Acela service for all departures seven days a week, except for holiday blackouts, and is valid on Sleepers, Business Class or First Class seats with payment of the full applicable accommodation charges.
