NTT DoCoMo to Offer New Flat-Rate Data Communications Billing Plans

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and its eight regional subsidiaries announced today they will offer the new flat-rate data communications billing plans “Pake-hodai full” and “Biz-hodai”. Beginning March 1, Pake-hodai full will enable FOMA™ i-mode™ subscribers with full-browser handsets to view not only i-mode but also PC websites and videos in Windows Media® format (compatible with P903iX HIGH-SPEED) for a flat monthly rate of 5,985 yen (including tax). Applications will be accepted from February 21. The billing plan will be applicable for 15 FOMA handsets already on the market, and for seven others to be marketed soon.

Starting some time after April 1, Biz-hodai will offer flat-rate packet communications for non-i-mode FOMA handsets M1000 and hTc Z at a monthly rate of 5,985 yen (including tax). This new plan will be available for subscribers to the U Standard Plan and U Lite Plan of the mopera U™ service. Pake-hodai full and Biz-hodai billing plans will both be available for subscribers to the new billing plans, which started on November 1, 2005.

The new flat-rate billing plans will not be applicable for data communications using PCs or PDAs, or for use outside Japan. In addition, DoCoMo plans to introduce a FOMA 64kbps data-card flat-rate packet billing plan this autumn to replace @FreeD™, a flat-rate plan for Internet access via the PHS service, which will be discontinued at the end of this year.
