Symantec Expert to Participate in Energy IT Compliance Panel at DistribuTECH
Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that Gary Sevounts, Symantec’s senior director of power and energy solutions, will participate in a panel discussion on IT security and compliance strategies for the energy sector at the 2007 DistribuTECH conference, Feb. 4-6, at the San Diego Convention Center. The panel discussion, titled “Measuring and Proving Security Compliance” will take place on Monday, Feb. 5, at 8:30 a.m. PT.
In his panel remarks, Sevounts will discuss the changing risk landscape challenging the security, reliability and performance of IT assets supporting business and control system operations for energy enterprises. He will also outline energy security and IT risk management strategies for ensuring compliance with important industry mandates, such as the North American Electric Reliability Council’s critical infrastructure protection (NERC CIP) requirements issued in 2006.
A frequent presenter at energy conferences, Sevounts is responsible for the definition and introduction of Symantec’s enterprise security and availability solutions in process control industries, including electric power, oil & gas, water utilities, and process manufacturing.
