Second Wave of WiMAX Vendors Test Plug-n-Play Features of Personal WiMAX Broadband Wireless Access Solutions at Mobile WiMAX PlugFest
Navini Networks’ Ripwave MX system is surfing to the WiMAX Forum’s second public Mobile WiMAX PlugFest, held this week in Malaga, Spain. Navini is a leader in providing plug-n-play personal broadband wireless access solutions with experience in commercial deployments. Navini has participated in all mobile WiMAX PlugFests held to date.
“We’ve attended every Mobile WiMAX PlugFest and that shows our product and technology readiness,” said Sai Subramanian, Navini’s VP, Product Management and Strategic Marketing. “We intend to be first to market with Wave 2 features such as Beamforming, and first in line when certification starts in 2Q 2007.”
For the PlugFest, Navini is bringing its commercially available Ripwave(R) MX8 platform in the 2.5-2.6 GHz and 3.4-3.6 GHz bands. This base station is capable of supporting several of PlugFest optional features including Beamforming, handover, HARQ, sleep/idle modes, power control, feedback and other features.
“This is a commercially shipping base station, and the best part is that it already supports Wave 2 features in addition to Wave 1 capability,” added Subramanian.
The WiMAX Forum is an industry-led, non-profit corporation formed to help promote and certify the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products using the IEEE 802.16 and ETSI HiperMAN wireless MAN specifications. The forum’s goal is to accelerate the introduction of these devices into the marketplace. WiMAX Forum Certified products will be fully interoperable and support Metropolitan Broadband Fixed, Portable and Mobile Applications.
