AMD Recognized Among Leading Corporate Citizens
AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced its No. 2 ranking on the “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list for 2007 by CRO magazine. The “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list identifies companies that excel at combining strong financial performance with responsible practices on environmental and social issues. This is the second consecutive year AMD has been recognized in the top five on the list for its corporate and social responsibility practices.
AMD was also recently included in The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World. The annual Global 100, unveiled each year at the World Economic Forum in Davos, is a list of role models in sustainable business practices. The Global 100 recognizes publicly-traded, blue-chip companies who have the best-developed abilities, relative to their industry peers, to manage environmental, social and governance risks. It also focuses on organizations that invest in new business opportunities in this area.
“AMD’s core value, respect for people, is a guiding principle for how we interact with our employees, customers, partners, communities and the environment,” said Dirk Meyer, president and chief operating officer, AMD. “By providing a safe and healthy work environment, contributing to the communities in which we operate, protecting the environment, and delivering technologies and business models to create opportunity for underserved populations, AMD is proof that economic success and social initiatives can — and should — go hand-in-hand.”
