Novell Appoints William M. Hewitt as Chief Marketing Officer

Novell today announced the appointment of William M. Hewitt as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Hewitt will oversee all of Novell’s marketing and communications functions. He is charged with focusing Novell’s go-to-market strategy, leading its worldwide marketing teams and generating demand for Novell® products and solutions. Hewitt will report to Jack Messman, chairman and CEO of Novell, and be based at corporate headquarters in Waltham, Mass.

Hewitt was most recently group vice president, global theater marketing at PeopleSoft, where he was responsible for worldwide development and execution of demand generation and field marketing activities. He also held the position of group vice president, global industry solutions, and was the first to hold the position of vice president, global product marketing. Before PeopleSoft, Hewitt held senior marketing roles at various technology companies, including vice president, marketing, at Hyperion Software. He also held sales, marketing and management positions at IBM Corporation over a ten year period. Hewitt holds a BS in Business Administration from the Boston University School of Management.
