DiVitas Networks Delivers the First Mobile-to-Mobile Convergence Solution for the Enterprise

Comprehensive Enterprise Mobility With Six-Month ROI

DiVitas Networks™ today unveiled the first solution to unwire the enterprise for mobile-to-mobile convergence (MMC). Consisting of a Mobile Convergence Appliance™ (MCA) deployed inside the enterprise and a Mobile Convergence Client™ (MCC) embedded in popular handsets, the DiVitas solution is network, device, and PBX agnostic and delivers total mobility under the complete control of the enterprise. The DiVitas solution overcomes the three mobility roadblocks of cost, control, and complexity and enables enterprises to mobilize road warriors and corridor warriors with a return on investment in less than six months of initial deployment.

The DiVitas solution offers these key benefits:
Works with existing PBX-based voice systems or in a standalone configuration
Interoperates with any WLAN infrastructure
Supports dual-mode phones, WiFi-only phones, cellular-only smartphones, and softphones
Provides seamless access to enterprise applications — email, presence, IM, CRM, and others — over any network
Enables enterprises to mobilize all workers while retaining complete control — at costs that are comparable to today’s desktop solutions

The DiVitas solution enables seamless roaming and WiFi-cellular handoff, and extends enterprise security, management, and cost control to mobile communications. End users are able to communicate their availability status through presence and continuously participate in all business operations. The solution provides these capabilities irrespective of the underlying network, whether cellular, WiFi, Internet/IP WAN, or wireline.

“About ten years ago, we started looking for a solution that would bridge our cellular and internal WiFi networks. We wanted to save mobile-communications costs; minimize the number of devices our physicians, nurses, and staff carry; and provide seamless roaming from WiFi to cellular without worrying about dropping calls,” said David Sproul, manager of emerging technologies and IT capital projects at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center. “After completing a six-month trial using the DiVitas MMC solution, we are on our way to delivering a seamless mobile experience to our prestigious healthcare staff as well as to other medical-center employees. We expect DiVitas will help UCSF continue its role as a leading-edge provider of the best healthcare in the world.”

“Today more than 50 percent of enterprise workers lack a mobile solution, and this has an impact on revenue, profits, and competitiveness,” said Vivek Khuller, founder, president and CEO of DiVitas Networks. “DiVitas enables companies to mobilize every worker with a unified communications solution that works over any network — internal WiFi, cellular, or hotspot — at costs comparable to a traditional desk-phone system. Every minute spent calling or messaging over a WiFi network is one less minute spent on cellular service, which can be 10 times the cost of landline service. Enterprises can quickly save tens of thousands of dollars by going with the DiVitas solution.”

The DiVitas Mobile-to-Mobile Convergence Solution

The DiVitas MMC solution consists of two components:
The DiVitas MCA installed in premises allows enterprises to control and manage mobile devices as they roam continuously and seamlessly among disparate wireless networks including WiFi, cellular, and hotspot.
The DiVitas MCC is a software client that resides on mobile devices and communicates seamlessly with the MCA. It provides an integrated multi-mode communications interface for ease of use with applications such as voice, video, IM, voice-mail, and presence. The MCC client is platform independent and can be downloaded over the air (OTA).

The new DiVitas MMC solution helps organizations increase the productivity of the entire corporate workforce by providing a cost-efficient solution for continuous and seamless mobile communications — a capability relevant to any enterprise worker. Companies today equip certain employees, usually salespeople or executives, with mobile devices such as cell phones, smart phones, and pagers. These road warriors spend a major portion of their work hours off-site and use mobile tools to connect to and collaborate with co-workers, customers, and partners. Their need for mobile connectivity justifies the expense of the mobile service.

Meanwhile, another set of employees — so-called corridor warriors — could become more productive with low-cost mobile-communications capabilities. These would-be mobile workers include office assistants supporting multiple executives, engineers meeting in conference rooms, and other employees who roam the halls and spontaneously collaborate with co-workers. Enabling these workers to leave their desks, yet remain connected and in collaborative mode with co-workers, customers, and partners, will help enterprises achieve corporate performance goals. Cost justification for this set of workers is a simple ROI calculation away from reality; DiVitas gives them the benefits of an expensive mobile device for the price of a desktop phone.

“The DiVitas solution addresses the global business need to increase workers’ mobility, accessibility, and productivity,” said Zeus Kerravala, Yankee Group’s senior vice president of enterprise research. “Carrying a device that roams seamlessly between cellular and WiFi networks, is manageable by internal IT staff, and integrates with enterprise applications is key to increasing this phenomenon of global mobile communications.”

Pricing and Availability

The DiVitas MCA 1000 with a 10-user MCC license starts at $5,495 US list price and is available today worldwide.
