Acer reaches third place in the EMEA Video projector market in Q4-06 and the fourth place for the total year 2006.
Acer, the fourth largest vendor in the global IT market (source: Gartner data, 4Q 2006), announced today that during the fourth quarter 2006 it reached the 3rd place in EMEA Video Projector Market (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and thanks to this it climbed to the 4th spot for the total year 2006 for the very first time (source: Decision Tree Consulting, full year 2006).
This significant achievement is due to an impressive performance in the fourth quarter 2006, when Acer reached the third position among the EMEA players, thanks to the outstanding quality of its broad range of projectors that deliver the finest portable and ultra-portable DLP technology to meet the requirements of Home, SoHo and SMB markets.
A closer look at the EMEA Region data reveals that during 2006 Acer increased its market share to 7.38%, scoring 28.0% growth over the previous year (market grew only by 17% in same period). This brought Acer from Rank 7 in 2005 to Rank 4 in 2006, missing the third position by less than one percent in 2006 full year, yet this created the right conditions for Acer to aim for the pole position within 2007.
2006 performance, country highlights: Acer Denmark, market leader in its country with a market share of 12.68% was one of the bigger successes of 2006. Here Acer recorded strong penetration in the Digital Home segment, particularly among young people, smart users attracted by the impressive value and high usability of the Acer projectors. Acer was also nominated as one of Denmark’s “CoolBrands” in 2006: again a tribute to Acer’s innovative spirit and technological appeal towards younger buyers.
