Prudential sends customer service work to India

Amicus, the finance sector union has expressed frustration that Prudential UK has today (7th March) announced the decision to offshore further work to India.

The decision to offshore additional customer service roles will result in some 120 job losses from Reading and Craigforth, Scotland.

Amicus workplace representative, Chris Gray says:
“This announcement brings more anxiety to the Prudential’s UK workforce. This latest decision marks another nail in the coffin of the business in the UK. This trickling effect of job cuts simply serves to cause insecurity amongst staff and does nothing for customer confidence in the Prudential. Amicus will make clear that compulsory job losses must be avoided and we will continue to call on the company to begin an honest dialogue with their dedicated workforce. Prudential must come clean on their future plans for the UK business as the union and staff grow increasingly uneasy”.
