BT and vodafone strengthen position with Dutch public sector

BT and Vodafone announced today the signature of a five-year contract with social security organisation UWV for supplying fixed and mobile communications services in around seventy offices of the benefits agency in the Netherlands. BT will also take responsibility for management of the switching infrastructure. In total, 18,000 employees are being provided with fixed line and mobile voice services.

Among the delivered services BT and Vodafone will be supplying the UWV with a customised telephony service. All 18,000 employees will be classified into 10 different profiles. The profile describes the telephony needs of the UWV employee in question. Depending on their position and for example their presence at their usual place of work or not, they access a specific fixed line or mobile telephony application. BT ensures that accessibility to UWV is and remains optimal for customers and employees.
The agreement between BT, Vodafone and UWV includes also the contribution from Damovo for installing and managing the telephony platform: Ericsson MX-ONE. BT is the prime contractor of the consortium.

Service provider and advisor: Michel De Coster, country manager of BT Benelux, said: “With this sizeable contract BT has put itself even further on the map in the governmental sector as a service provider and advisor in networked IT services. BT and UWV have worked together on this solution and the contract is the result of a long-standing consultancy relationship. Our integrated fixed and mobile services are ready to be rolled out even further across the public sector.”
