LG-Nortel Showcases Innovative Mobile Videophone Remote Monitoring at CeBIT 2007

Live Demonstrations Focus on Portable Videophone Surveillance and IP Telephony Solutions for SMBs

SEOUL – LG-Nortel, the Nortel* [NYSE/TSX: NT] and LG Electronics joint venture, announced what is believed to be the first videophone that allows visual monitoring through a remote Wi-Fi camera link. The new videophone will be showcased at CeBIT 2007, being held March 15-21 in Hannover, Germany.

LG-Nortel will demonstrate how this unique videophone allows individuals to remotely monitor the inside of their homes anywhere, anytime while they are away. In the case of a disturbance such as a fire or an intruder, a sensor installed on the premises transmits a radio signal to the videophone that is then immediately received by the owner as an SMS text message. The owner can then visually check the home via the on-site Wi-Fi camera which sends real-time video to the videophone. The videophone will be available in the third quarter of 2007.

In another live demonstration, LG-Nortel will replicate a head office and branch situation, demonstrating its new, multi-featured IP PBX – the iPECS P4. The solution was developed for the European SMB market and will be available through LG-Nortel sales channels in the second quarter of this year. The modular IP PBX offers a rich set of easy-to-use features – ranging from multi-party and multimedia collaboration capabilities to voice mail and unified messaging – delivered over a highly reliable and scalable distributed architecture that can be easily configured and managed via the Web. The new iPECS P4 is available in three sizes, ranging from 100 to 600 port configurations.

“The LG-Nortel presence and announcements at CeBIT clearly demonstrate our commitment to the development and promotion of new and innovative communications solutions,” said Jae-Ryung Lee, chief executive officer, LG-Nortel. “The world’s largest and most important international IT exhibition is the perfect venue for the launch of these exciting new products which are set to be winners with consumers and businesses alike.”

LG-Nortel will also be demonstrating call center, VoIP, unified communications and digital phones at CeBIT, as well its ipLDK 60 PBX. The first product developed by the joint venture, the ipLDK 60 PBX addresses the communications needs of the SMB and home office markets, and is fully hybrid to support IP network communications, as well as both analog and digital communications. It is currently sold through Nortel channel partners around the world.

The two-story LG-Nortel booth will be located at Stand A46 in CeBIT’s Hall 12.
