Mazda Auto Dealer Is Landmark Fixture In Austin

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today announced the 35 th anniversary of Roger Beasley Mazda. This milestone makes Austin home to the longest-standing and largest Mazda dealership in the Lone Star State. As music legends Willie Nelson, Clifford Antone and Stevie Ray Vaughn were starting the live music scene in Austin, Texas-native and University of Texas graduate Roger Beasley began what has become a long and legendary career in the automotive industry. At the same time, Japanese automaker Mazda was beginning to capture attention in the United States. Intrigued by the company’s exciting car line, he opened Roger Beasley Mazda in March of 1972.

“I started out in the business with one goal in mind–to sell quality cars that are fun to drive,” said Beasley. “Today the Mazda line, with its zoom-zoom mantra and new retail philosophy, makes that an easy task.” Throughout the years, Beasley’s Mazda dealerships have grown with Austin and one of the keys to his success has been his progressive thinking and his willingness to spot a good idea and implement with full force. Within the last two years, Roger implemented Mazda’s new retail philosophy by renovating all three of his dealerships into the state-of-the-art facilities known as ‘Retail Revolution’ dealerships. The dealerships combine modern-day advances such as wireless technology and computer kiosks with sleek architecture and customer-centric design elements that create a car-buying experience like no other. Furthermore, this concept proves Roger and his staff’s dedication to their customers as we move into a technology driven era.

“My personal and professional congratulations go out to Roger Beasley and his team on this fantastic accomplishment,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. “In his 35 years in the Mazda business, Roger has become the largest Mazda dealer in Texas and our second largest in the U.S. His success extends to Charter membership in our President’s Club for the best dealers in the country, and he has embraced our Retail Revolution dealership concept.

Perhaps most importantly, though, Roger and his family and businesses are heavily invested in the Austin community, giving back a large portion of their success. I am proud to congratulate Roger, and call him a friend.” “My employees and customers are the forefront of my success,” added Beasley. “Top notch customer care and high sales volumes go hand-in-hand and there is no greater honor than repeat business. I look forward to another 35 years.”
