Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 the least disruptive anti-virus solution for Windows Vista
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 is the anti-virus product that causes the least disruption when used with Windows Vista, according to Virus Bulletin, an authoritative international publication on computer virology. Virus Bulletin published a comparative review of Windows Vista-compatible anti-virus solutions for home users and, in addition to malicious program detection rates, examined the effect of various anti-virus products on overall system performance. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 scored highest when measuring how much a system was slowed by the scanning of executable and system files, archives, media files and documents when the products were configured with default settings.
When scanning archives on-access with default product settings, the slowdown caused by Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 was just 0.656 of a second. With the same default settings, the slowdown was 16.39 seconds for executable and system files, and 5.234 seconds for media files and documents. All scanning results for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 were significantly better those of other leading anti-virus products.
Minimal delay caused by on-access scanning is imperative to ensure acceptable usability and efficiency while minimizing user frustration. Virus Bulletin comments: “From the user’s point of view, on-access scanning speed is more important than on-demand scanning speed. On-demand scans can be run at off-peak times, while on-access slowdown affects users at all times.” Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 with a beta version of Maintenance Pack 2 was used in the test. The maintenance pack ensures the product is fully compatible with Windows Vista.Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 received its latest VB100% award for combining highly effective protection from cyberthreats with very high system performance.
