Symantec Expert to Speak at United Telecom Council (UTC) 2005 SCADA Security Conference

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), today announced that Gary Sevounts, Symantec’s director of power and utilities industry strategies and solutions, is presenting at United Telecom Council’s (UTC) 2005 SCADA Security Conference. The conference which explores critical infrastructure control systems takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico and runs from Sept. 21-22, 2005.

Sevounts’ will participate in a panel entitled “Technology Partners” on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. and will address the latest technology advancements and strategies for a sound security plan. The panel discussion will offer utility companies best practice recommendations for the protection of critical infrastructure assets and facilities.

As director of Power and Energy strategies and solutions for Symantec Corporation, Gary Sevounts is responsible for the definition and introduction of Symantec’s enterprise security and availability solutions and for the electric power, oil and gas, and related utilities industries. With more than 15 years of experience in information technology including seven years in information security, Sevounts brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Symantec’s partnership with the Power and Energy industry. Gary is a frequent speaker and thought leader on SCADA / PCS cyber security and actively participates in industry events.
