Oracle and HP to Help Companies Improve IT Service Levels and Control Costs through “Optimize for Agility” Initiative

Oracle and HP today announced a new initiative, called “Optimize for Agility,” that will help enterprises lower IT costs, optimize IT service levels and improve business agility. This initiative is based upon an engineering, services and marketing agreement and will deliver service and support offerings for rapid initial deployment, integrated management and dynamic provisioning capabilities to customers worldwide. Driven by customer requirements for improved return on IT investment and greater alignment of IT service levels with business needs, the goal of the “Optimize for Agility” initiative is to enable joint customers to benefit from virtualized, cost-effective, reliable, and scalable IT resources to be dynamically tapped at any time.

This initiative is backed by service and product innovations, such as the native capabilities of the Oracle 10g grid platform, HP OpenView management solutions and Oracle Enterprise Manager, that will openly exchange events and operational information, allowing for a richer root-cause analysis and problem solving across an entire grid infrastructure. This integration, enabled via exchange of models using Web services, gives users the ability to detect and avert IT performance degradations before they impact business users.
