Macromedia Licenses Flash Platform to Leading IP Networking and Communications Provider

Following its success with mobile operators, Macromedia, Inc. (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced that Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO) has licensed components of the Macromedia Flash Platform and Macromedia Breeze to integrate Flash-based web conferencing into Cisco’s portfolio of unified communications and conferencing solutions. Breeze is delivered through the Macromedia Flash Player, which forms the backbone of the Macromedia Flash Platform and is currently installed on nearly 600 million Internet-connected desktops and mobile devices. This pervasive platform commands a million-strong developer community and leverages existing content on an array of devices. Users can instantly access Breeze from any standard web browser without downloading or installing software.

Cisco’s first product to include the Flash-based capability is Cisco MeetingPlace Express, announced yesterday. Cisco MeetingPlace Express is an integrated audio and web conferencing solution that makes it easy and affordable for small and mid-sized organizations to realize the cost savings and productivity benefits of deploying conferencing over internal networks. Cisco MeetingPlace Express will provide simple, powerful conferencing functionality that is easy to deploy and manage.
