Eleksen Provides Ultra-Mobile PC Ecosystem With Innovative Data Input Products
Leading Smart Fabrics Company to Provide Fabric-based Interactive Soft-goods Peripherals for Intel based UMPC
Intel Developer Forum Spring 2007
Eleksen Group plc (AIM:ELG.L), the inventor and manufacturer of ElekTex® smart fabric touchpads for consumer electronics, today announced that it has been selected as an UMPC ecosystem partner by Intel to deliver a range of ElekTex-based solutions for Intel based Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) and MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices).
Eleksen will have an array of working reference designs, prototypes and concept designs based on a variety of ElekTex sensor designs and control electronics that can be easily integrated into an Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEMs) mobile computing accessories products.
With its highly innovative touch-sensitive textile interface technology, Eleksen offers OEMs and ODMs a compelling alternative to traditional bulky mechanical keyboard designs which compromise the mobility and portability of this new generation of mobile computing platforms. Fabric-based ElekTex data entry sensors can be integrated into device bags and protective cases for UMPCs and MIDs, enhancing the usability of the device without sacrificing its portability.
“The opportunity for Eleksen to participate in this new UMPC and MID ecosystem and bring new portable interface designs to market is thrilling for us,” said Robin Shephard, CEO, Eleksen. “Our focus is to use ElekTex to consistently pioneer creative ways for people from mobile road warriors to urban trendsetters to interact with their digital devices. There is no better way for consumers to personalize their devices than with accessories and carry bags. Our solutions add a new dimension to these soft-goods by making them as functional as they are fashionable. ”
“Interactive soft-goods provide a new capability that complements the functionality and portability of UMPCs and MIDs,” said Kelley Johnson, Marketing Manager at Intel Corporation. “Eleksen stands out as a great choice for new UMPC and MID interface accessories as the Intel® Ultra Mobile Platform 2007 helps create demand for a new category of devices.”
