State of New York Selects Omnilink Systems as Offender Wireless Monitoring Partner

Selection Follows Introduction of Bill A5424 by Assemblyman Ortiz

The State of New York announced today on the steps of City Hall the first critical step into its recently announced New York State Assembly Bill A5424 which requires that, in certain instances, when a restraining order is issued, the offender will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device. By establishing a partnership with Omnilink Systems, the State of New York has selected a partner with a technology solution that has moved monitoring technology into the 21st century.

Recognized for championing the bill, State Assemblyman Felix Ortiz places New York in a growing number of states who have sought electronic monitoring of certain individuals who pose potential threats to its citizens. Quickly becoming the standard at the state level, Omnilink Systems offers the only single unit solution that tracks inside buildings and other places where GPS only based solutions do not work. Omnilink’s solution also tracks off-the-shelf cell phones that victims carry to detect when the offender wearing the court mandated offender devices comes close to the victim. The victim is alerted and the NYPD is alerted simultaneously, thus expediting the dispatch of appropriate law enforcement personnel, and allowing the victims to become active participants in ensuring their own safety. Law enforcement authorities can also increase or decrease monitoring intensity at any time, ensuring that the technology reflects the latest judicial mandates.

“We have an important bill in the state of New York that helps control individuals who pose a threat to citizens of New York,” explains State Assemblyman Ortiz. “With Omnilink Systems, we now have a tremendously reliable surveillance system in place to strengthen this important bill.”

Omnilink’s monitoring solutions bring an unprecedented level of efficiency and effectiveness to alternative sanction programs. Using a combination of cellular technology and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Omnilink’s innovative offender management technology provides sophisticated location awareness information in real time and even when offenders might be inside buildings, buses, trains and more. No other technology in this industry locates offenders in buildings, cars, trains, or buses.

Omnilink’s web-based application makes it easy for NYPD staff to easily specify monitoring criteria, including allowed and excluded location zones, travel time and routes, and even proximity to other monitored individuals.

“We have worked tirelessly to introduce the next generation of electronic monitoring devices and tracking technology that creates tremendous efficiencies at the local law enforcement level, providing the most reliable solution to effectively manage and monitor offenders,” explains Steve Aninye, CEO of Omnilink Systems. “We applaud State Assemblyman Ortiz and the State of New York for working aggressively to pass Bill A5424 for the public safety of New Yorkers.”
