Cisco Among China’s 25 Most Respected Companies

Cisco® China today announced that it received an award as one of the 25 most respected companies of China. The award was presented jointly by The Economic Observer, a leading business newspaper, and the Management Case Center of Peking University, a top business research institute.

Started in 2001, the “Most Respected Companies of China Award” is among the most influential business awards in the country. According to Liu Jian, editor in chief of The Economic Observer, it “recognizes enterprises in China with outstanding achievements in the areas of management abilities, brand image, market vision and innovation practices as well as financial performance.”

The selection of the award-winning companies was divided into three phases. In the first round, 379 candidate companies were selected, followed by a second round in which the top 50 were chosen through a series of votes by senior executives and MBA/EMBA students. The top 25 companies were eventually selected after strict review and appraisal by a panel of 16 prominent experts from different organizations. This is the first year that Cisco China has made the top 25 list. Also among the top 25 are international companies like IBM and Nokia and local companies like China Merchants Bank.

“Cisco is honored to have been selected as one of the most respected companies in China. We have a long-term commitment to China and have been contributing to China’s communications infrastructure and economic development for more than 10 years,” said Thomas Lam, president of Cisco China. “Cisco’s vision of the ‘human network,’ where people come together in new ways to communicate and collaborate, and where everyone is connected, will help shape the business environment in China.”
