Huawei Commits to Promoting African Economic Development Through Telecommunications

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (”Huawei”), a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications networks for operators around the world, today shared its vision on bridging the digital divide and enriching the lives of Africans at a forum held in conjunction with the 2007 Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank Group (ADBG) held in Shanghai, China. The forum was attended by African government officials, including Minister for Finance Republic of Kenya, African Development Bank executives and Mr. Wen Ku, Director of Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Information Industry of China.

As one of the leading telecommunications vendors in Africa, Huawei has played a significantly role in the development of the continent’s telecommunications industry, contributing towards greater economic progress in Africa. This was highlighted in speeches by Hon. Amos Kimunya, Minister for Finance Republic of Kenya, Mr. Wen Ku, Director of Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Information Industry of the People’s Republic of China and Mr. Gilbert Mbesherubusa, Director of African Development Bank at the Forum alongside demonstrations of a number of E-Government solutions.
