Airspan Signs Up Wireless Internet Base Stations and Wireless Mobile WiMAX Access CPE Devices for Third Public Mobile WiMAX PlugFest
Airspan Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRN) announced its participation in the WiMAX Forum third public Mobile WiMAX PlugFest currently taking place in Sophia Antipolis, France. The company is testing Mobile WiMAX Base Stations and Mobile Devices against products from other companies to demonstrate interoperability in preparation for WiMAX Forum mobile certification later this year.
“Airspan’s continuing support for the WiMAX Forum fixed and mobile PlugFest program is important to both our business and the WiMAX industry,” said Paul Senior, Vice President of Marketing & Product Management at Airspan Networks. “Airspan plans to deliver a comprehensive range of Mobile WiMAX products, which customers demand are fully interoperable with products from other vendors. The testing at PlugFest moves Airspan a step closer to certification which forms the foundation for interoperability with other WiMAX products.”
Airspan has attended all of the WiMAX Forum public fixed and mobile PlugFests to date. Airspan has previously announced its intention to seek certification for its Mobile WiMAX versions of HiperMAX, MicroMAX and unique Quad-Band 16eUSB Mobile Station.
“With 33 companies participating in this latest WiMAX Forum PlugFest, we are seeing strong growth in the number of interoperable products and increased success during testing,” said Ron Resnick, president and chairman of the WiMAX Forum. “Thanks to our member companies and PlugFest attendees, including Airspan, we are on track to begin certifying Mobile WiMAX products later this year. WiMAX Forum Certified mobile products will be interoperable, which is key in order to enhance the user experience while decreasing operator investment and consumer costs for broadband anywhere, anytime.”
