Discovery Channel Stores Retains DJM Realty to Dispose of All Stores
Discovery Channel Stores has selected DJM Realty, the leading real estate disposition firm to exclusively manage the national disposition of 103 locations along with a corporate office and a distribution center in 31 states. As part of its new commerce plan, Discovery will focus on achieving an increased reach of its products through retail partnerships and our high-growth e-commerce platform.
“We are excited to offer these premier real estate properties ranging from 2,000 to 4,500 square feet to businesses nationally,” said Peter Lynch, Principal of DJM Realty. These 103 mall-based and stand-alone Discovery Channel Stores are available in: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C. and Wisconsin.
In an effort to better compete in the changing consumer products industry, Discovery Channel Stores has identified the need to close stores to focus on its partnership and e-commerce marketing presence. “This is a great opportunity for businesses looking to expand their real estate portfolio and trust DJM Realty to best identify and partner with the appropriate organizations,” said David Zaslav, President and CEO of Discovery Communications. “By eliminating our owned and operated brick-and-mortar storefronts, which are cost-intensive and complicated businesses, Discovery can focus its efforts on high-growth e-commerce and licensing operations.”
“Given the desirability of these properties and the amount of interest that we have already received, interested parties must act immediately,” said Emilio Amendola, Co-President of DJM Realty heading the real estate disposition of Discovery Channel Stores.
